There are some things I want to know before I do upgrade to the new version of the component.
Is there a way to completely disable the statistics by the component setting? I mean not only does not show them but disable them completely. Usually, the statistics are a lot of work for the server and my site having many visitors I would not want the server to go down.
What other improvements have been made in the new version?

0yes. the statistics tracking can be completely disabled on the parameters, so nothing is stored on the database.
the other main improvements are...:
1) re-structured artist profile (more fields, 2-col layout, place to render modules on frontend)
2) modules can be rendered on album and song profile, too
3) small bug fixes, such as pagination issues on the frontend (on search results, for instance)
4) improved administration area: including SONGS view, PLAYLIST manager, and all the existing views has been inproved (you can sort by columns, for instance, which you couldnt do before)
5) new letterbar. it looks the same, but it does not cause CSS headaches
and it has support for other alphabets, such as cyrillic, arabic, greek, hebrew...
these are the component improvements
