Link to a Genre?

Is there a way to make a menu item that would link to a certain Genre? I'm thinking this might work better in my situation than trying to use playlists since we only will have a few different genres...

    "genre" pages are actually search pages with a search filter ON.

    so you can achieve this by creating a new "EXTERNAL LINK" menu item type, and write this into it:

    index.php?option=com_muscol&view=search&search=albums&genre_id=XXX

    XXX should be the ID of the genre you want.
