Hi!!!
Certainly, I don't know the reason,so I don't know if this matters concerns your component.
This folder is the only folder in the joomla installation that can't change permissions, so I can't upload the css after changing certain lines (colors).
When I try to stablish permissions for this folders (write permissions), I am unable to do it and receive a message from my ftp 550 CHMOD 777 com_muscol: Operation not permitted.
The reason for writting here is that is the only folder in the joomla installation that i can't do it.
For change the css, I have changed it in my pc, zipped again the component and reinstalled. It works, but after done, I have to setup again the component.
It is not a great problem, but I have curiosity ... Is it due the component?
Thank you very much ...

0no, it's not the component. the "problem" is that the "user" that executed the installation of Music COlleciton (I'm refereing to the "linux" user, nothing you can control) probably has not the right permissions.. so maybe the muscol folders "belong" to a different user:group that the rest of the installation. is this possible?
can you perform a chown command?
also: NEVER do chmod 777. NEVER. EVER. some servers may even not permit that, so it is possible that this is the reason you cannot do it.
have you tried chmod 755? -

0It is a strange hosting that is not under my control. It's very strange, and it is first time I have found a server like this .. xddd (Certainly I am novice, and only develop sites for friends).
The extrange is that it doesn't work with 755 permissions. I know I never have to use 777, but in this extrange server, joomla only works with 777. With standards permissions doesn't work. Last year, for the I edition of the competition happens the same.
you are right, I spoke to the admin about this, and the problem was the user. I asked for permissions for my user. he did it, and now, I can upload files to the server.
I have tested that components and modules that I have upload when migrating for my test hosting to this hosting I hadn't problems, only with new components installed directly in this server. (I developped the web in my hosting, and when it is almost finished, except musicol component and 2 more, I migrate it)
With another component, hwdvideoshare, I have the same problem. Cache directory was set as 755 and it didn't work until I changed to 777.
Funny.
Now everything is working properly. -
