I developed a Windows based application a few years ago to upload playlists (and associated tracks) to a website where I was using the Wimpy player component.
Over time that application became a full-blown playlist generator and music player that allows you to manage a large collection of albums. It does not contain music playing software, but relies on third party applications like Windows Media, MediaMonkey, Winamp, Quicktime to play mp3, wma, m4a, flac files. The application also supports numerous playlist formats and will quickly change one format to another. It provides support for converting iTunes playlists into other formats.
When I re-built the site that had been using Wimpy, I chose the Music Collection component instead of Wimpy because of the ability to have entire albums supported...and because it was based on a database.
Like many of you, I was appalled at the way I needed to upload my collection, sooooo - I decided to once again modify my playlist generating app to support uploading of albums and playlists to MC.
The application is called VersaTunes and I am now using it exclusively in support of MC and have uploaded over 400 albums. It automatically populates the tables in the database, uploads the files including the cover art work (all three sizes) to the appropriate directories on the server. Once an album (or tracks from am album) have been selected for upload, the actual uploading is done in a background thread.
The current version only supports an Artist/Album/Track directory structure - which allows you to keep albums in individual directories on the server.
You can see the results by browsing to the website http://loendorffamily.net/loendorffamily/index.php?option=com_muscol&view=artist&layout=grid&id=39&Itemid=17.
And to think - it is FREE to download and use. Please browse to www.versagroup.net and register to download. The product is called VersaTunes and once you have registered and logged in to the site you will find it under the Software Menu item.
Please use the VersaGroup VersaTunes Forum for any discussions, so as to not load up this forum with support or questions about VersaTunes.
Enjoy - David
PS - It only works on 32-bit Windows based systems. Not sure why it will not run on 64-bit and am working on finding out why not!!!

0There should be a help function available that provides information on Preferences. If that does not Help, let me know and I will update it to be more specific.
Also, since this is an issue with VersaTunes and not Music Collection, Please use the VersaGroup forums for further support.
Thanks - David
