what you mean "generic" ??

on the other thread I post you a link to download a search module.

anyway, if you want to access a SEARCH view you just have to create a menu item pointing to music collection > search > albums (or songs)

i m already using that searchbar module n it is working successfully but i m asking about a search in which i just have one "textfield" and a search button....whatever searchstring(song,genre,album,artist) i write in that textfield it should return a result accordingly....very similar to the search of this specific forum

If you use the plugin, "Search plugin for Music Collection" It will at least allow you to use joomla's default search to also search for albums. That way you only need to have the one search box. Hopefuly if it gets updated to include songs and artists, then one can use just the single search field to search for anything on their site.

probably we will update it some time.

in any case, you can configure MC's native search to show only the text field and hide the others... the thing is that it WONT search on genre name or anything like that, only on album/artist name...
