I can't see what I missed on the install but the player JW player never worked. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

My mistake. No, Safari still doesn't allow playback. but it gives me a warning related to security (HTTPS). looks like you're using a https website but it's not authenticated, and Safari is not allowing playback for this reason. like a security reason. see screenshot. that is what's causing your problems in Safari.

0this is quite strange. looks to me the problem comes from your current configuration. your website is on port 4443, quite strange, and that makes Safari "not reach" the song files normally. that's what it looks like looking at the console.
is this going to be the definitive location of the website? -

0This is just our development URL. We changed it to not specify the port but that didn't fix it.
