Searching by other means !!!

Hi Germi

I am creating another new site with MC......This site will all be about different "Keyboards ".....

I am a little confused on how to set this up, where a user can search for a particular keyboard instead of artist or album...

As some examples are , Roland G70 keyboard, Yamaha Tyros3 keyboard, Korg PA2X PRO keyboard, etc.....Can you recommend a way, how I can set this up where the user has an option to search for keyboards?

Thanks
Ron

but the items to be searched will be albums? I mena, you could use format to define the different keyboards... or not? I'm not sure what do you want to achieve exactly ;)

    Hi Germi

I am looking for a way, for a user, to search the database by keyboards.... Or is Albums the only way to search?

I tried the search by format and it did not work for me http://www.joomlamusicsolutions.com/images/fbfiles/images/qqq-20100124.png

but, you will be using MC to list Keywords instead of albums? is that it? in that case, keywords will be albums, and you will search by "albums"... you know what I mean?

what you mean? format and genre are ALREADY on search engine!! :)

on future version, search engine i much improved... you can search by type, tag, format, genre, and sort results... and use pagination.

it will be much better :)

because you have to write something on the freetext field. if you want to avoid this, tell me and I'll tell you a little code hack to avoid it.

on version 2.0 this is also improved

It is important that the users can search for albums, by which Keyboard they used to create the album....

I only have one album right now, and the album was created by using a Roland G70 Keyboard.....But the end result will be hundreds of albums created by different keyboards.......

So if I am looking for any albums created with the Yamaha Tyros Keyboard, I would like to be able to search only for Yamaha Tyros Keyboards.

Here lies the problem that I am having..I am anxious to start populating the database but really do not know how to create this searching possibility..

    Please advise

    Ron

    but.. where's the problem?
just select "Yamaha Tyros Keyboards" on the format list... and you will get only this results...

i just like if you choose 'CD' as a filter on the format dropdown on this very site...

    Ron,

I told you some posts above... please read again. to show album results you must FILL UP THE FREETEXT FIELD with something.

try to write Dreamer, and hit search. tell me what happens ;)

as I already told you before, you avoid having to write something on the freetext filed in order to get results, you need to make a small code hack, wich is the following:

read 4 posts above please. I just tell you there how to achieve this.

you have to make a small code hack. I just posted a link to another thread where I explain how to do it.
