Germi:
What am I missing, if anything?
Using the loadposition command in introtext works just fine for me.
However, Joomla also publishes the module in the designated position(say, user8). One ends up with the module being displayed twice on the Home Page.
Soooo, do we control this by a menu item? i.e, user8 published on some page other than Home leaving user8 alone in introtext>
Thanks, Ron

0it's the normal behavior: joomla will publish modules on EVERY call to that position it finds. so if user8 is somewhere in the template, and you also use it on introtext, it will show in both.
why don't you use a non-used position? just make one up! that's the beauty of it.
you can TYPE position names in the module parameters, no need to select from dropdown
just make up a name (say dummyposition) and then call it in introtext with loadpoistion -
