I purchase the software yesterday, set it up then I added a menu link by artists (the one that says it's a must) and the page is blank. Not blank of content, however it is blank of any sign of music. I have added about 10 albums and stopped because of this can anyone help me.

0Hi,
I had the same feeling you did when I started with Music Collection. Where is everything on the home page?! The demo shows a lot on the home page - http://www.joomlamusicsolutions.com/en/music-collection.html
Here is my take on how they did it - also here is my Music section - http://ilivewhereiam.com/road-music
Go to the home page of the component in the admin area where it will come up with Album Manager. Click on the Parameters icon on the right.
- One option you have it to "Show Artists on MC Home" just at the bottom of the window pane. That is one way to show your content on the home page, but not how the demo does it.
- Click the scroll once and you will see "Introduction text" and "Introduction text 2" Hover over this text and you will see that this is for text on the home page.
- In Joomla there is the concept to load a module into any area of an article by using "loadposition_NAME-OF-MODULE-POSITION". use this concept to populate the MusCol modules into your home page like Featured Artists module, Featured Albums - more info here on loadposition - http://docs.joomla.org/how_do_you_put_a_module_inside_an_article%3f
- Basically, open your Featured artist module and name the position (for example) featuredartists Then to the right under Parameters, choose Criteria: Latest; Number of Artists: 6, Layout: Profile; Artists per Row: 3; Save
- Now go back into the Component parameters as before and go to the Introduction text and enter {loadposition featuredartists}
You should now see the artists appearing as they do on the demo. I really liked this layout and wanted to use it myself.
Load any other module you want to the same way. You can also remove the search bars for song & album in the component parameters too.
Good luck!

0hello!
first of all, thanks Lisa for such a good explanatioN!
@aff19802 you will see, it's quite easy to set up when you know how the Homepage works...
about the music not playing: I took a look and the problem is very simple: here's is, for example, a file trying to be played:
http://www.stanbanks.me/music/songs/songs/drake/heartbreak Drake 4/01 My New Shit-MF.mp3
this files does NOT exist. why? notice this double "/songs/songs" on the file path. that is incorrect. there should be only one. this files, however:
http://www.stanbanks.me/music/songs/drake/heartbreak Drake 4/01 My New Shit-MF.mp3
does exist. so the problem is that you added an extra "/songs" on the parameters.
probably, on the SONGS SERVER parameter... am I right? that field should be EMPTY... and then, just a "/songs" on the "SONGS PATH" parameter..
pelase take a look!!
the final path is always SONGS SERVER + SONGS PATH + FILENAME
so if you add too many "/songs" it does not work! do you understand what I'm saying?

0Ok I understand the homepage part from lisa thanks allot.
I totally understand the how the file path should work also, however i didn't add anything to any perimeters. Sonngs Server is blank ans songs folder has songs/
Now when I type in a path to a song to works just as you said. I dont understand where the extra folder look-up would come in. I have looked at it for about an hour and I am going to go back to try to get it to work for the rest of the day so any help would be appreciated. -
