well module assignement depends only on the menu item assignement... if you ONLY want to show the module on the author page... the page should have its own menu item.. do you know what I mean?
otherwise it should be blocked by code on other pages.

well I don't think you want to have a menu item for each author... do you?
in that case you need some small code modification on the module so it only shows up in the AUTHOR pages even if the menu item is the same...
