Issue installing component

Hi,

I have installed joomla on my site.

Joomla Version 1.5.14

PHP 5 on server

I try to install the component through admin area and I'm getting the error: Unable to find install package

I am selecting the zip file from my computer, I have tried uploading it from the /tmp folder and from URL and get the same message.

I am not very familiar with Joomla so this is new to me but I am pretty techy so that's not a problem.

    hello,

    you have to unzip the file first!! :) the file contains many zip files.

    one of them is com_muscol and the others are modules and plugins.

    hmm... I just tried to install it right now on my test server to see if anything is wrong, and it installs perfectly...

    maybe you dont have the necessary writing permisions on your tmp folder? have you got a test server?

    I dont know what can it be, nobody reported me this issue... probably is something of your server configuration.

    If you want, I can try to install it myself if you give me access to your admin (you can send me the data to our mail, joomlamusicsolutions@gmail.com)

    I've checked all configuration and it seems to be fine.

    I could be missing something as I said, I 'm new to Joomla.

    As far as I can tell my Server is setup correctly, if you need anything changed let me know I have full access to the server.

    Hi germi,
    Problem with file com_muscol_2.0.0_pro.zip I think
    got the same problem here, other modules install without hassle. Rights and content of the files seems to be ok. Now trying to work with the install folder instead of zip file. And this worked. Installing the plugins and modules seems to work with the zip files.

    Yes indeed, the main component file: com_muscol_2.0.0_pro.zip didn't worked. I unzipped it to an install dir, and from there all worked.

    Upon now, other modules and plugin zip files worked, except the muscol_recently_added_xxx.zip, this one I also had to unzip and install from install dir. And then it worked !

    System reported an error in the XML, no valid content it said...
