0By following the directions here;

I was able to search and find album data without any problems...
Hope that helps! -

0I know how it's meant to work - it just doesn't and gives an error message.
I spent my money and want to use this - but for two weeks it's just sat there waiting for a response. Every other supprt request on the forum is getting attention, but I'm not.
The support has been lousy and, to be honest, I'd rather have my cash back. -

0Ya know what... Mine was working fine and was able to search and add all the beatles albums without and problems.
But now, from the main component page it does nothing.
However from the album song tab, I can search for tracklist info without any problems.
Since I was able to search before, I'm guessing I may have changed something but have no idea what. It would be nice if there were a "reset to defaults" option in the component Parameters.
I'll forward my info so you can check my settings and other info...
Thanks, Tim -

0No error message at all...
I enter my search info, click search and nothing happens.
If I select an album and edit, I can then go to the song tab and search for tracklist info and get results.
I sent my login info in a separate email, if you have time please see for yourself. Maybe I have an incorrect setting or something...

0I checked for apache configuration and mod_gzip. Apache 2 is not compatible with mod_gzip. The module mod_deflate is the Apache 2 equivalent. This mod_deflate is still loaded in my Apache.
But i still became the error while searching on discogs:
Fatal error: Call to a member function children() on a non-object in /home/u1/tekktv/administrator/components/com_muscol/controllers/albums.php on line 93
What's the solution? -

0i also noticed that when i was installing the searchbox module (as well as some other modules and plugins) gave an error like: "XML Parsing Error at 1:0. Error 4: not well-formed (invalid token)"
the album search option gave a 500 error, and was not displayed, then i removed t he plugin and reinstalled and now it works ok, any ideas what this XML parsing error could be about? i'm asking cause maybe it's also causing the discog problem.. i don't know..
i sent the mail to the address you mentioned. languages problem is ok now, i was a bit sleepless then, but the discog problem stays as it is... so since this is an important function, i need some assistance to make it work, i sent the mail to your address mentiones, and i'm writing here? is there any other support channels that i should use?
regards and thanx for the marvellous component indeed -

0More info on lookup issues...
Search discogs for 'Cubanate'
First result in list is 'Cubanate - Oxyacetalene'
Link is for: 39778
Check on discogs website: http://www.discogs.com/cubanate-oxyacetalene/master/39778
Result in Music Collection: Different Tastes Of Honey
Searching for 'Tosca - Different Tastes of Honey' in discogs shows that this has the same reference number.
http://www.discogs.com/tosca-different-tastes-of-honey/release/39778
It would appear that more than just the reference number is required to return the correct result.
Germi - could you have a look at this for me??? -

0:S :S :S so strange... I'm thinking that Discogs has changed something in ther API access rules... or maybe they are having some SEF problems, it looks so odd that there are 2 releases with the same ID... :S :S :S
I'll take a look, but I think it's a good idea to go to Discogs forum and see if there are topics about this.
I'll do it, but if you want, you can give me a hand(4 eyes see more than 2!)

0Germi,
It seems that when performing an artist search you are returning the master, rather than release ID - which is why I'm not getting the right info...
From the discogs support call I raised - http://www.discogs.com/help/forums/topic/227480

Album IDs are actually unique. However, you can take a look at the "type" of the entry the search returns. This is either artist, release or master. Releases and masters can have the same ID as they are different things. In other words, the API is currently available only for releases - when you specify an ID, this is referring to a release ID. There is no way to get master info as of now. We're waiting for this functionality in the API 2.0.

The Joomla 'Music Collection' component has a bug, it shouldn't return master releases. -

0you're right, the Masters were included on the results, and only the Releases should
this file should solve the problem (please unzip it first, and replace for the one existing in /administrator/components/com_muscol/controllers/ )
let me know if works!

0hello!
sorry for the delay. I'm traveling now and the internet connection I am able to use is absolute rubbish, so the support is being a bit slow. sorry for that.
about your issue: were you using the CURL option? (I don't remember if it was you who tried it and worked for the gzip issue...) the file I sent you was NOT using the CURL option, so if that was teh case, let me know and I'll send you a new file... hopefully the last one! -

0oppss.. once more I forgoy about this post...
I was working on this right now.
here's a new file: it combines the CURL solution with the FIX about the releases... I hope this is the definitive one!!! please let me know! [file name=albums-20110403.zip size=6991]http://www.joomlamusicsolutions.com/images/fbfiles/files/albums-20110403.zip[/file] -

0Thanks Germi - the new file runs OK but we're still getting look-up errors with Discogs.
As another example:-
Search for 'Cubanate'. 6th entry in the list is for a single called 'Body Burn'.
Selecting this goes to:-
www.discogs.com/pliq-b_hind-one/release/39775
but it should go to:-
www.discogs.com/cubanate-body-burn/master/39775
There's still something wrong with the way Music Collection gets the final release data and the format!
