It looks like an updated version of MC is out but I don't see any info on improvements in the importing of music.
Personally I think this should be top priority. The main problem with MC is the time wasted trying to import a large collection of music or uploading albums. There is no need to invent ways to gather information... most the useful song info is already located in the ID3 tags of every mp3 file. Users want to upload their collection without worrying about entering in every little detail of every song.
At the minimum the software should read the ID3 tag to gather info for... Album name, Artist name, Song Name, Song Length, Song Number. At this point the collection would be reasonably organized. Other info like album art could be added later.
Any ways, please let us know if this is still in development and a possible rough estimate of when it can be expected. A very rough estimate would be fine.
Thanks!

0This is very disappointing. MC came strongly recommended. As I could find no decent overview of product features on this site, I just took a chance on it. Finding out that imported music then needs to have all the details added (already in ID3 tags as Max points out) means it is useless for my needs.
I have a (modest) collection of around 25,000 songs that I hoped to showcase with MC. Editing each song and categorizing on artist, album, artwork, genre, etc. is impossible. I guess MC is fine if you have a band and want to display your set or a few albums, but, unless I'm missing something I have wasted my money. -

0hello,
we are creating some tutorials for the new version. please stay tunned.
@delup if you have any problems please don't hesitate to contact us at joomlamusicsolutions@gmail.com
@max_power we will publish tutorials very soon. some things have been improved and other will be improved shortly in new releases.
once more, it's important to make this clear: the MAIN purpose of this new version was to make a Joomla 1.6 version compatible. when we see that this version is 100% stable and everything still works good in 1.5 and 1.6, we'll add more new features in MC.
new version ALREADY comes with new features, but many more will come soon
anyway, this week we'll publish new tutorials
best,

0I too think that the lack of MC being able to read the song ID3 tag makes this component almost useless to me and my users. I get users that keep saying that it takes too long to upload and add all of the information for each track. The uploading process is too complicated with too many steps. These users comes from sites like reverbnation and sound cloud that has this process already stream lined. Many users stop at the process of uploading each track one by one and having to add the information manually. I expected more from this component after paying so much for it. Having to wait for 5 months after J1.6 came out to get MC and now to find out it's nothing but the same old component which is mainly just j1.6 compatible is very disappointing. No major changes were made after waiting this long. This is like having the same old thing placed in a brand new box.
Still didn't add the simple link to the artist Jomsocial profile from MC.
PLEASE ADD THE LINK TO GO BACK TO THE ARTIST JOMSOCIAL PROFILE PAGE. :S

0Woah!
Why is it that Windows Media Player, VLC Player, iTunes, Winamp, Realplayer, Musicmatch and pretty much every other "music manager" *ever made* offer and support importing (in multiple ways usually no less), and they are free too - and yet this is not free, and cannot import?
Talk about not being industry-standard.
So, we just invested heavily in this product, and we need importing to work as we have over 300GB of tunes to import into this from an already organized FOLDER system (i.e.: \\artist\\album\\trackname.mp3 - with MOST having ID 3 data - but certainly not all of it.
So, we either need a definitive ETA of when this feature is expected AND that it be delivered by that date, or we require an immediate refund for our purchase price.
Thanks

0Thanks for the speedy response Germi,
That will be ok. As long as you deliver! :-D
So let me change tactics here a bit....would you be interested in us as a BETA tester? Our environment is perfect for your needs and you just don't know it yet. ;-)
Just know we are more heterogeneous here than most larger enterprises and have myriads of systems to test with - including Novell, Apple, Linux and of course Microsoft, LDAP/AD and so on.
And since JMC is about to replace Subsonic here that means that Joomla Music will become very, very visible in this company.....justifying us being BETA testers and our time here in IT to devote to it.
Win win situation for us both.
You know where to find me! Please do reach out.

0Excellent! We'll be waiting.
Just got JMapMyLDAP and SSO working today, so that's off my radar.
Now onto K2 (or) Yootheme Zoo (not sure which just yet - testing now....) then onto content, train 2 users how to continue the content management/creation, and then back here to JMC before I go live with this new intranet.
Peace!
Regards,
Joomlajay
