I just realized that after adding an album under a specific genre, the songs that follows doesn't fall into the same genre as the album. You have to keep selecting the genre again and again for each song. Example: Album genre is rock but when adding songs to that rock album the default to the first genre on the list.

0mm.. I believe genre is inheritated.
that means, if no genre is specified (when you just add a song into an album), try to make a search for that genre: the songs inside the album will list as "rock" songs (in this case)
of course, if you access the song form, then you have to select a genre if you hadnt previously or the first in the list will be selected.
anyway, I think you're right, would be a good thing to have on next version
