I had to hibernate the install on my site as it no longer functions. The JW player is out of date and they changed the configuration from a simple audio player to video. I would think about updating the install if Knew there was an absolute fix to the player issue among other necessary bug fixes would. It would be nice to have a front end sign up with a TOS and Policy page so the site admin can implement legal language to ask for permission to use audio files on the player.

0I believe that the JW Player has been upgraded therefore making the player on the site inoperable. I went to their website and everything seems to have changed. The point is that the player was working and now it is not. I looked at it again last night. I search for the player configuration settings and I cannot even find that yet. I need to do some more digging I guess.

0After logging into https://www.jwplayer.com/ and going to my account, I go to API Credentials. At the top there is a blue button that says "show credentials" You click onto this and there are two fields on says key and the other says secret. I have tried both separately as well together with a lower case space "_" separating the two. None of these worked. The JW Module states "Module XML data not available"
I also tried keys from: "player read only for SFLM Read Only" at the bottom of this page with no change.
The player simply mo longer works on the site which makes the "Music Collection" Component useless to me. I may as well just pay $5.00 per month for a JW player which comes out to $60.00 for the entire year. I am thinking of doing that.

0what you mean "it does not longer work"? it was working and it stopped?
if there's a valid API key in it, it works.
At what point did it stop working? did you remove the API key?
You currently don't have an active subscription with us. If you subscribe and download the latest version of our plugin, you will have no problem -

0Thanks for the reply Germinal, Yes it stopped working last year, when the JW Player folks updated their player. I am pretty sure that is the case. I've tried everything that I could think of.
As far as the subscription, I have other components on the site that need upgrades that are ahead of this and at this point I am looking at other options so that I am not tied to all these annual support subscriptions. I think at this point it will be cheaper to hire my own coder for the website.We will probably scrap any codes that are not custom-able as well.
I'll review the option to subscribe in a few months..

0Hello Germinal, I upgraded my subscription yesterday. I hope all is well with you So, I went through the instructions to try to resolve the issue of the player not working. I assigned the "DEFAULT MENU ITEM ID:" to line 509 (It previously said "All-Songs) per the manual. The JW player Key that came with the new uplod did not seem to work. I tried the ones I had. Those did not work either. I reinserted the one that came ith it ans saved it..
Also the instruction manual says "Music collection system plugin needs to be moved to the last position of your plugins in order to work properly." Well for some reason there are 10 plug ins listed after this and Joomla will not allow me to place this file any further down.

0Hello Germinal, were you able to gain access with the FTP information?
I am not sure if you are aware but there was no change after the cache was cleared. In addition to the player not working I also noticed that the main song listing (On-the-go playlist) does not get populated so perhaps there is some correlation between the two issues.
Anyway, I have faith that it will be sorted out. I will be available tomorrow for the most part.

0Germinal, I sent you an invite from https://www.jwplayer.com/ so that you can manage the correct API key and or settings on my account. I am still trying to find the fix. No offense but it It is very frustrating.
Please also look for an invite to the admin section of the site via email although you might have that on file.

0I played around again with some settings today. No changes so it looks like I will leave it in your capable hands. Primarily the boot strap and Jquery options. I also don;t want to messing around with it while your trying to fix it. I bet you run into that issue all to often. If you look back, In the messages here I have sent you some info.

I've been looking at your issue. The error is caused by another module, and is affecting Jwplayer (and the rest of javascript in the page)
please, see screenshot.
this error is present in every other page on the website and is causing a JS break in the page, which prevents the jwplayer to show correctly.
it looks like it's the js file responsible for the dropdowns menu you're using.
can you take a look into this? -

0Ok, Thank you! I went in and I did a few things to try to resolve that;
First I changed a settings in the menu's module. I am not sure what effect it has made. I attached a pic noting the setting. I changed it from DOM to Load. The reason I tried this is because when you hover over the filed, it mentions that it might resolve issues with 3rd party extensions. The nav menu is called "Navigation by Ari"
Second, I disabled the other menu's that were used by this menu software called "ARI Ext Menu"
Third, I went to the menu's software site and I uploaded a newer version to update it. It appears that the menu is working faster now but other than that, I am not sure if that error still exists as I do not know where to locate it.
I am also no sure if the JW key is correct or not so that may be another issue that is complicating things. I previously sent an email; I have provided you a link and an admin access to the JW site to check that.
Hopefully, at least one of these changes will make a difference.

0Hello Germinal, I tried different templates that were already on the site. None fo them seemed to make a difference regarding the Player but they are all outdated. The current one is no longer available, I was hoping there was an upgrade. The Company does not exist.
I will need a few days to sort this out as I am in the process of taking over another music lesson studio in my area.

0Hi Germinal, I know your off work now but I disabled the cache in the main config area. I will try a few things today and reach out to the folks that offer the menu module. Thanks for your patience.

0I changed a setting in the menu called "Module Class Suffix" to NO meaning do not load. I went back and changed this setting after I took the attached snap as well "Generate unique ID" to No.
I am going to save that new setting now. The Cache is turned off!
Lets check the player's key code and be sure everything else is right.

0Hi Germinal, I went to the forum page for the menu software Co. It recommended to select the correct language in the module setting. Just do this but I do not have time tonight to see if there is any difference.

0Update; I tried a disabling the menu for the music collection page and the player still does not work,
I am starting to think that it might be the K2 component and not the template as the payer was working with the Template before.
What do you think?
I will keep the current site status as is.. I had to rest the original config setting for the menu so that it would work properly. IF you click onto the Music Col. link the menu will disappear.
