If you get some Notices on the component like "Notice: Undefined variable:"... you should just disable PHP notice system, wich is joomla recomendation. Go to your Joomla configuration panel and set error_reporting to none, or minimum. If it does not work, you can still do it through the php.ini file, modifying the ERROR_REPORTING variable.

looks like the module is in a position that occupies half of the screen, on the left. I'm guessing that your template offers this position, maybe there is an option to tell it to take all the width of the screen instead of just half?

now I have positioned the three-line search modules with different columns and no input boxes fit the module width
Looking at this, can you see where the problem is?
