Are there any basic instructions on how to set this thing up properly? I don't normally have a problem with Joomla components that this is giving me a few problems. I have setup for various folders including one called "songs" in my root folder. I assume I am supposed to upload all the songs into this folder and then in album inside the component, enter the path to the song. Anyway, I'm having a bit of a battle with this at the moment so if anyone can give me a few hints, I would appreciate it

0basic instructions:
1) Take a deep look at the PARAMTERERS, on Music Collection backend. This is the first thing you should do before start populating your Music Collection, and it will solve most of your doubts.
2) then, start by creating some FORMATS you'll be using (CD, DVD, LP...) and some GENRE (rock, pop, blues), and also some TYPES (Studio, Live, Compilation, Bootleg...).
3) to create an album first you need to create its artist. go to artists and create some new artists you'll be using. There's a "Sample artist" already created if you'd like to start making some tests.
4) go to albums, and click NEW. add some info there (including front sleeve, RECOMMENDED), and SAVE.
5) once you've saved the album, open it again and you'll see a NEW TAB appears, called "SONGS". go there and click on the button "add song" as many times as you like: you are about to create the songs inside this album. Write the song's names and some other optional info if you want (e.g. song number, disc number), and SAVE or APPLY.
6) now, next to each song, there's a new button, called EDIT. click on it to edit song's details, including genre, review, chords... and FILE (MP3). use this field to upload the mp3 file to the song. the system will save it inside SONGS folder. if you already uploaded the file using, for instance, FTP, then all you have to do is to WRITE the name of the file on the field for it, next to the uploader.
I think this is the basic instructions... ask me any other questions you may have

0After spending a little time looking at things, I have now successfully managed to create an album and add some songs. However, I want to create a compilation album that includes various artists. I am creating the album but it seems that you can only assign one name to the album. Like I said, I've managed to add two songs to the album, but whereas I've got the album name "That Summer Soundtrack" I have also got the name of the first song that I added to the album listed underneath the main name. It's difficult to explain so I have added a link here so you can have a quick look. I'm just messing around at the moment, so I haven't really included any images. I can see that when setting up the menu, you can either point to a particular album, or the whole component, I am actually pointing to a particular album because I haven't sent any others up for the time being.
Also, I created a folder called "songs" in the root inside this folder, created one for a particular album, but when I upload the songs, it automatically puts them into the "songs"folder, even though I stated the root when setting up the album. I was hoping that I could have various folders with all the songs in, rather than having them all in the same folder mixed up

0some things:
1) the songs ALWAYS upload to /songs if you use the built-in upload. if you want to have folders inside it, to keep music better organized, you have to upload the songs by FTP and then write the path to each files (ex: album_folder/song.mp3) on the song form
2)albums only have 1 artist, but you can assing a different artist to each song, you you get a compilation artist. take a look at this:

3) I REALLY suggest you to point to "Music Collection -> Artists" to acces Music Collection. that way it will be easier and faster to access every album, artist or song in your library
