I am having extremely slow performance both in the backend and in the front end of this component. Here are some examples:
1. To delete an artist from the backend takes about 45 sec - 1 min to complete
2. To open up an artist, or a song takes about 30 sec -45 sec in the backend.
3. On the front end it takes a while to load the page.
I have tried reducing pictures for artists.
There are not that many artists or songs. The site pretty much does nothing else and is on a dedicated server.
At other times it runs at a reasonable pace, but the slowness which is about 70% of the time makes the component almost unusable. What could be causing this?

this is definitely not normal. at all.
doesn't seem it is an issue in Music Collection, more like an issue on the server (if MC was causing this somehow, then you would have the problem all the time).
have you tried to reach out to your server provider to see if they can check if there's anything wrong with the server?
