Hi,

I wanted to know if there was some type of notification that gives us some sort of notification when there is a new released or version for a product that we have subscribed to. The reason why I am asking is its quite tedious to check back through ALOT of the downloadables to see if there is an update. If no such feature exists I would like to suggest it for possible implementation in the future to make it easier to track updates/fixes between versions.

    hello,

when we release new versions (for the main components or plugins, with new features) we post them here: http://www.joomlathat.com/news
if you subscribe to that page with a RSS feed reeder for example you will see the new versions..
we also use Twitter to announce new versions.

Thanks for the fast response. While I am grateful for the fact that you do notify us via social networks I am afraid that this will become a cumbersome process for those of us who are webmasters and plan on using your products on our clients sites to track statistics etc. This maybe ideal for 1 - 10 sites but as we begin to manage more sites, checking social networks and RSS feeds doesn't provide the seamless upgrade process that I was hoping for. Do you think that you will reconsider adding this as a functionality as a feature in the future?

I will definitely consider building this. since we track the downloads, we can track if a new file has either been downloaded or not by a customer (you), and if hasn't, mark it as "new" and set it in the notifications (on the top right of the page)

    thanks for the idea!

Thanks so much I'm not sure if this can give you some sort of direction for a simple possible solution but I know that Akeeba, ACL Manager,, EventGallery (other Joomla extensions) gives their users unique ID's that they have to enter on a Joomla instance. And for as long as that user is paying for a subscription, they have access to new update notifications and can download from within the Joomla instance as opposed to having to go to the Site every single time.

Hopefully this will make the workload, accessibility, and control easier for you as well. Nonetheless thank you for considering this
