Duplicate records in Content Statistics Issue

When searching to see what articles a specific user has views, I see a ton of duplicate records. What is the cause of this? There are way too many of them to just be an occasional refresh or something:

    a duplicate view can be, for instance, some widget on the page (for example a FACEBOOK like button) that is "calling" the page again when the page has been loaded...
